Programs and Day Camps

Play, explore and discover the great outdoors of Nebraska by going on one of our many adventures! Please contact the Education Department at (402) 738-2092 for more information. 

Family Safari Explorers

Discover and practice adventurous outdoor skills, such as beginning camping, nature photography, citizen science, nature art and astronomy. 

These two-hour classes cost $10 for Wildlife Safari Park members and $13 for non-members. Open to all ages. Youth under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Supplies are provided with the exception of cameras. 

Pre-registration is required. Offered to ages 4 or older unless noted otherwise.

4C (Clean Creeks Conservation Crew) Kick-off - Sunday, April 8, 1 - 3 p.m. 
Observe what a healthy creek looks like, perform biological and chemical monitoring tests, explore living organisms within that ecosystem and work toward the conservation of clean creeks in our backyards.

Adult Photography (Sun Set on the Prairie) - Sunday, April 29, 7 - 9 p.m.
Grab your cameras to capture the last golden rays of the day as they illuminate the prairie landscape and cast stunning silhouettes on our wildlife.

Beginning Camping - Saturday, May 19, 1 - 3 p.m.
Locate the ideal campsite, practice pitching a tent, learn basic first-aid tips, pack a backpack with essentials and create a plan and shopping list for campfire cooking.

Art on the Plains (Sketching/Journaling) - Saturday, May 26, 1 - 3 p.m.
With pencil and journal in hand, we will uncover the peace and tranquility that the outdoors offers and create a stronger connection to the natural world.

Art on the Plains (Canvas) - Saturday, June 23, 1 - 3 p.m.
Bring your creativity and imagination to express yourself using our canvas and the great outdoors. The beauty of your outdoor canvas creation will be treasured forever. 

Summer Solstice - Sunday, June 24, 1 - 3 p.m.
The day of the Summer Solstice - Thursday, June 21 in the Northern Hemisphere - is a special day in many parts of the world. Besides being the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere and the shortest in the Southern, this day also marks the link between people, the Earth and the sun. We will be celebrating with yoga, making flower crowns and identifying native healing plants. Join us in exploring this change in season.

Art on the Plains (Weaving/Flower Press) - Sunday, July 22, 1 - 3 p.m.
Celebrating pioneering the spirit, we will explore the art of weaving and flower pressing.

Grab your coffee and your camera for some early morning photography. Wildlife Safari Park will open early for pre-registered photographers who wish to capture the perfect shot during "the golden hour." For adults ages 18 or older only.

Fall into Fall - Sunday, September 9, 1 - 3 p.m.
As the autumn leaves begin to fall, the elk will begin to bugle as other wildlife prepare for cooler weather. Join us as we explore the magic of the changing season.

Art on the Plains (Clay/Paint) - Saturday, September 22, 1 - 3 p.m. 
As we discover the tracks of wildlife around us, we will preserve them with clay and paint as a reminder of who walks through our forests and creeks.

Photography for Adults - Saturday, October 20, 7 - 9 a.m.

Wonders of Winter - Saturday, October 27, 1 - 4 p.m.
Ever wonder what the animals at Wildlife Safari Park do when we're closed for winter time? Explore the natural winter habitats of native Nebraska species and then compare and contrast with the animals at Wildlife Safari Park. Guests will participate in making animal enrichment used by the keepers when Wildlife Safari Park is closed for the season. This camp will be an hour long to accommodate all of the activities that are planned.

E.L.K Klub - Early Learning Kids Klub

Nurture your young child's love for wildlife and the great outdoors with Wildlife Safari Park's newest Early Learning Kids Klub (E.L.K. Klub). The E.L.K.Klub uses the Park as a classroom to encourage young children ages 3 to 4 years old to investigate, play, and learn about Nebraska native wildlife through hands-on activities and exploration.

Programs are for children ages 3-4 years old.  All classes are from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at our Education Base Camp near Wolf Woods and our Pawnee Creek Trailhead Parking Lot. Pre-registration and payment of $13 per child per session is required.  An adult must accompany the participant.  The registration cost covers one adult and one child.  Prices reflect the discount member rate.

Pre-Campers Campouts 

This Family program focuses on families of all ages that are wanting to discover what spending the night at the Wildlife Safari Park is all about without acutally spending the night.  Guests will expereince a night hike, dinner, s'mores and campfire.  All camps are from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.  Cost is $25 per person (children under 1 are free). Prices reflect member discounts.

Day Camps

Pricing reflects discounted rate for members. Transportation is provided from Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium. For ages 8-12 and occur rain or shine. Cost is $75 per registrant unless noted otherwise.

Animal Enrichment Ranger Day Camp - Wednesday, June 13, 9 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Join us on a North American expedition exploring the habits and habitats of North American wildlife. Together, we will build enrichment for the animals at Wildlife Safari Park to help encourage natural behaviors and maintain their physical and emotional well-being. We will then observe how the animals use their enrichment and visit with a Wildlife Safari Park keeper about our observations. 

Conservation Wildlife Ranger Day Camp - Thursday, June 21, 9 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Become a wildlife ranger and join us on a North American expedition. Start the excursion traveling from Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium to Wildlife Safari Park. Campers will learn about animal conservation, grab nets, put on waders and search for frogs, all while discovering what is contributing to the decline of amphibian populations around the world.

My Backyard Ranger Day Camp - Thursday, July 12, 9 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Have you ever wondered what you could do to help wildlife in your own backyard? Become citizen scientists with us and explore opportunities in creek monitoring, composting, building bee boxes,  taking a micro hike and bird identification.

Junior Wildlife Safari Park Keeper Day Camp - Wednesday, July 18, 9 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Celebrate National Zookeeper Week at Wildlife Safari Park! Meet a Wildlife Safari Park keeper and get an inside look at their daily routine and the significant role they play. *Cost is $85 and for kids ages 8-12.

Scout Programs

Classes include two hours of engaging activities and are available Saturdays and Sundays at 10 a.m. or 2 p.m.

Scout classes are $15 per person, including adults. Fee covers Scout class and admission to Wildlife Safari Park for the day. If booking with a campout, Scout classes are $12 per scout and adults are free. A three week's notice and a minimum of five participants are required.
